A former Republican legislator from Nueces County, Torres served the voters during the 82nd Texas Legislative session. He authored key legislation, SB 563, to eliminate wasteful government spending. He also worked to restore approximately $77 million in much-needed state funding for Texas cities and counties and was honored by the Texas Municipal League with their Legislator of the Year Award for 2011.

Born in Nueces County he attended local schools, earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from CCSU, and over the years has built several successful businesses.
Raul Torres previously served the voters of Nueces County as State Representative in District 33. He is a Certified Public Accountant and business owner who knows how to plan and live within a budget, create jobs, and meet a payroll.
