Greetings,

I am Mo Nehad. I am a father, a peace officer, a military officer, and, like many others, a hard-working American. I am running for Fort Bend County Sheriff.

I was born and raised in Kuwait, amongst a community that supported and uplifted each other. The Iraqi invasion of Kuwait took place in August 1990, when I was only 11 years old. Within two days, most of the Kuwaiti military was overrun by the Iraqi Republican Guard, or had retreated to neighboring Saudi Arabia or Bahrain. Immediately following the invasion, Iraq set up the “Republic of Kuwait” to rule over Kuwait, eventually annexing it outright. Saddam Hussein announced a few days later that it was the 19th Province of Iraq. As I watched my community be overtaken, I made a promise to myself that I would take a stand against crime and corruption wherever I resided.

In the mid-nineties, I moved to Houston, Texas, to pursue my education. I started with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management. I mastered my skills in community relations, administration, customer service, business operations, and financial management. It was a great honor to manage over 350 employees internationally, oversee multi-million-dollar budgets, and be given public recognition as a leader in a Fortune 100 industry. I have over 20 years of leadership experience in telecommunications, restaurant, and retail industries that has given me the skills to attain my current positions as a director in our family retail business, along with being a partner and co-founder of Moray USA LLC, a transportation and logistics company.

My career in law enforcement began in Harris County as a Deputy Sheriff. In total, I have devoted over 1,700 hours to specialized training to enhance my skill and knowledge to better serve my community. In the past decade, I have worked relentlessly with the Child Exploitation Unit to apprehend child molesters and bring justice to victims and their families. I have conducted over 3,000 traffic stops and assisted with over 200 motor vehicle accidents. During Hurricane Harvey, I worked around the clock alongside other first responders to prevent drownings from the devastating floods. I am certified as a Mental Health Officer, Field Training Officer, Active Shooter Response I & II, Rifle Operator, Master Peace Officer, Taser Instructor, OC Instructor, Classroom Instructor, and a Certified Jail Administrator.

I currently serve as a Police Officer in the city of Woodbranch in Montgomery County, Texas. I also serve in the Texas Military Department – Texas State Guard as a Warrant Officer.

The current population (as of 2022) in Fort Bend County is 876,000. With such rapid growth in our community, I can only assume criminal activity will also increase. According to the 2022 reports, there have been 9 homicides, 118 rapes, 128 robberies, 680 assaults, 816 burglaries, 4,313 cases of larceny, and 443 auto thefts. The Fort Bend County Jail failed to meet the criteria of the Texas Commission of Jail Standards.

My wife, Martha Lisle, is a very gifted cellist. Fort Bend County is where she and I chose to raise our family. We are raising three incredible girls, and I REFUSE to sit back and expose my family or community to growing criminal activities. I am working alongside local GOP leadership to create awareness within minority communities of the three fundamental traditions and values of Conservatives: Faith, Family, and Freedom.

It is my duty as a husband, father, and concerned citizen to ensure the safety and security of our community.
