East Texas needs a champion who fights for our conservative values while fulfilling the community’s needs. Dan Hunt will be the community-focused conservative House District 8 deserves.

Since he was a teenager, Dan has helped promote the conservative movement and lend a hand to others. Raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Dan got his first taste of politics knocking on doors for Ronald Reagan’s re-election campaign. During and beyond his college years at Texas Christian University (TCU), Dan volunteered for the Tarrant County Republican Party.

Always a fiscal conservative, Dan opened a small business upon graduation from TCU to save up for law school. Dan’s business filled a unique need – helping TCU students, faculty, and athletes secure travel plans. After several years, Dan sold his business and moved across the country to attend Rutgers School of Law in New Jersey.

It was a big leap to move from ruby-red Texas to deep-blue New Jersey. Conservatives at Rutgers felt isolated, so Dan and a few friends formed the Rutgers Law Republican Club to give them a community and share alternative views that could make the nation a better place.

After graduating from law school, Dan moved back to Texas to begin his career as a prosecutor and then criminal defense attorney. He has spent 21 years defending Texans’ constitutional rights and ensuring our justice system works for the people. Between he and his wife’s jobs, the Hunts moved across the state several times. No matter where they ended up, they found ways to serve their community and the Republican cause.

Dan recently served as the Chairman of the Henderson County Republican Party in Athens and on the State Republican Executive Committee, giving a voice to his community at the state level.

Dan’s service has never stopped at his local Republican Party. In Athens, Dan is heavily involved with organizations serving others. Whether it’s covering eye exams and purchasing glasses for children or helping a single mom give her kids a memorable Christmas, Dan constantly looks for ways to give back to his community.

Dan is a passionate constitutional conservative who will fight for his community’s values in Austin, but it’s his compassion and consistency that make him the Representative House District 8 deserves.
