Cody Clark, a proud Texan by birth and a resident of the greater DFW area since 1990, is a dedicated public servant and business owner. His roots in North Texas, specifically in the Denton/Prosper/Aubrey area for over two decades, have shaped his commitment to the community. As one of the 212,000+ tribal members of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Cody brings a unique perspective to his candidacy.
His career in law enforcement spans nearly 20 years, starting as a Detention Officer at the Denton County Sheriff’s Office while attending the University of North Texas. He quickly advanced to become a member of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) before joining the City of Denton Police Department at the age of 21. Over the years, Cody served as a full-time Police Officer, a training officer, and a founding member of the Community Response Team (CRT). He also obtained his Master Peace Officer’s License and served as a Reserve Officer, where he became the unit’s Lieutenant and Treasurer.
In 2010, alongside his wife Shelly, Cody co-founded a company that provides essential care and housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). As the Executive Director of Operations for Avid Quality Care, he oversees the provision of residential placement and medical/therapeutic needs for approximately 130 individuals in nearly 30 group homes and foster/host care homes, primarily in Denton and Collin Counties. This role has also led him to engage in legislative matters related to disability advocacy and funding for IDD programming in Texas.
Cody's campaign for the Texas Senate District 30 is driven by his desire to improve the lives of Texans, especially those with disabilities. He emphasizes the need for responsible and respectful care for the vulnerable and their caregivers, backed by his extensive experience in both law enforcement and healthcare services.
Cody is a family man, married to Shelly and father to two daughters, Justice and Liberty. His personal and professional achievements, including being a SORT Team Member, Training Officer, and recipient of a Chief’s Commendation, reflect his dedication to service and community.
As a candidate, Cody Clark aims to bring his diverse experience and deep commitment to public service to the Texas Senate, focusing on serving all people, including those who are often overlooked.
