Conservatives of Deep East and Southeast Texas have suffered a gross misrepresentation in the Texas House of Representatives again this session. We deserve so much better than the hand we've been dealt. We deserve someone with a strong voice who is an unapologetic patriotic Texan who understands what property taxpayers are going through because they're going through it, too. We deserve a Representative who will not be afraid to stand up and fight to protect and defend our conservative values and our Constitutional rights and liberties. We deserve a representative that cannot be bought. It's me. I'm your huckleberry, y'all.

For those who don't know me, my name is Alicia Davis, and my love of Texas and my roots run deep. I am a proud 7th-generation Texan with direct ancestors who have fought for our freedoms in every conflict since the French and Indian War. I'm a direct descendant of Jamestown and Mayflower colonists, of Native Americans, of pioneers, and immigrants. My ancestors, including Sherrod Clark, former Republic of Texas legislator who founded Magnolia Springs, which is in Jasper County, one of the original counties from the Republic and one of the few remaining counties to still own its school lands; William Westbrook, awarded land by the Republic of Texas for his service during the Revolution, John Bevil who founded Jasper County; the first agent of the Alabama Coushatta, James Barclay, and distant cousin, John Henry Kirby, who founded the timber mills of the Pineywoods of east Texas, and whom Kirbyville was named after, have been heroes to many Texans. The land that I live on has been in my family since 1847. My family is filled with not just familiar names but with farmers, teachers, lawmen, plant workers, welders, pipeliners, loggers, soldiers, and other plain everyday folk. I'm proud of those deep roots.

I have always been one to stand up for what is right; to speak up for the little man even if I'm the only one, that's how I was raised, and it's in my blood. I like to think that I have the same proud and patriotic fighting spirit of the former Colonel, Congressman, legend, and Texas Revolutionary hero, David Crockett; after all, I am his 7X niece. In addition to his legendary shooting, tracking, and hunting skills and bravely fighting and dying for our liberty at the Alamo, Davy Crockett championed the cause of land rights and fought against taxation for impoverished farmers. He wasn't afraid to be the only one to stand up for what was right, and was the only congressman to vote against the Indian Removal Act, aka the Trail of Tears, which is when he left Congress and famously said, "You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas."

I wanted to tell y'all about my love of Texas and of my deep roots so that you would fully understand when say that you can bet yer boots that hell hath no fury like a scorned Texas woman (or man) being taxed off her multigenerational land that's as old as Texas itself with no representation. I have kept track of every time my elected representatives have ignored my voice, ignored my calls, emails, letters and knocks on their door, and I’ve had enough. I’m stepping up for my District because our current State Representative, Dade Phelan, has failed to represent the Republican Party, me and my family as well as the rest of the real people of HD21.

Unlike my two opponents, I am the only candidate who is just like y’all. I’m not a career politician, and I’m proud of that. I have no political favors to cash in to secure a vote or an endorsement. Everything I have done, I have done on my own time and dime. I am the only Republican candidate that has fiercely stood up against an overreaching government to protect and defend our God-given Constitutional rights while relentlessly advocating and lobbying our lawyers to eliminate property tax. In addition, I have helped thousands of property taxpayers protest their property tax appraisals for free. As your District 21 State Representative, I will continue being that strong voice for ALL of us that I have been and will continue to protect and defend our God-given Constitutional rights and exposing what’s really happening deep in the heart of Texas.
