About Me

I am announcing my candidacy for the Blanco County Commissioner of Precinct 2. If elected it will be my duty to protect the citizens of Blanco County as I don’t think it is fair to make the current citizens subsidize the potential citizens of Blanco County.

I am a local resident of Hye, Blanco County, Texas and have deep roots in Blanco County as I am the great grandson of Hiram (Hye) G. Brown, founder of Hye, TX.

James “Patrick” Watson is the only son of James “Porter” and Juneth Watson and was born in the hospital then located in Johnson City. He has two older sisters, one that still lives on the ranch and the other is deceased. James “Patrick” has been married twice. He and his second wife, Margie, have been married for 16 years and still live on the ranch. They have a blended family consisting of 8 kids, 20 grandkids and 10 grand grandkids.

Growing up on a farm/ranch and with my father being self-employed, I learned at an early age what it means to operate a business, understand contracts and be fiscally responsible. When recently asked what public service meant to me, my response was I believe that growing up on a farm and ranch and being taught animal husbandry and land stewardship from a very early age, has given me a strong foundation for public service. America's farmers and ranchers are a perfect example of public service. They sacrifice at all times of the day and night in all kinds of weather no matter if it's a holiday, or their kid’s birthday, or even their anniversary, just to care for their livestock, and or their crops! They don't do this for riches, they do it because it's their calling! God created them just for that job.
There are a number of challenges that I will face as a newly elected commissioner. It will be my job to help the citizens of the precinct to understand the current budget constraints placed upon the office and the growth the County is experiencing and will continue to experience. We need to figure out the best with to manage this growth to the benefit of all citizens. Currently our roads are experiencing a decline and we need to find a way to repair those county roads in poor shape, improve current county roads and maintain the county roads that are still in good shape. Additionally, I plan to involve citizens in more of the decisions making within our precinct and to be more accessible all citizens within the precinct.
